Direct TV Deals Beat Cable

Friday, October 29th, 2010

One of the good things about switching to one of the satellite TV companies is that you get the new customer discount. Because they want you as a customer, they are willing to drop their regular prices for one year as an enticement to get you over to their service. But if you have cable TV, you might be wondering how Direct TV deals stack up against what your local cable company offers.

Direct TV is only in the video business, while cable television companies offer triple play bundles which include high speed internet and phone service. While the current satellite deals offer about $30 off per month on any package, cable deals usually only offer a six month discount if you only want basic or digital cable. So you can save a lot more money by going with Direct TV. The downside is that they require you to subscribe for a minimum of two years, so that is something to keep in mind if you are not planning on staying in your current home that long.

Low Cost Satellite TV Options

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Some who are struggling financially decide to cut the cord on their cable TV service. It can be a big money saver, as cable usually costs at least $60 dollars a month or more. One option to consider thought is cheap satellite TV service, as you can save some money and still have plenty to watch.

With Dish Network, the low cost option is the America’s Top 120 package, which is priced at just $24.99 a month for the first year. This includes about 85 video channels, and music channels round out the package. If you want a DVR you will have an additional monthly service fee.

The low priced option from Direct TV is the Choice package, which comes in at $29.99 a month for the first year. Here you get about 150 audio and video channels, so it is a bit more than the Dish TV package. Both of these deals are good for one year, and then prices go up to the normal rate.
