My daughter doesn’t want dolls or other toys for her birthday anymore. She has become a teenager and now she asks for stuff like money and jewelry for her birthday. I am a jobs counselor at a local community college. I had a very strange request from one of my new incoming fall students. This young lady wanted has always been fascinated with gems and wanted to become a gemologist. I actually had to do some research myself. This is what I learned. First it is not an easy profession to get a job in, but if you wanted to it goes like this.

First you need to get proper training, not some one class certificate. There are a few institutes in the United States and in England. A new kid on the block is ISG, The International School of Gemology. It is a relative steal at $1195.00 for this program. This course can be taken on the internet.
